Dame Dash, the modern day Christopher Columbus

So, Im scrolling thru the Observer's site, as I do on a regular and I see this headline [ Hip Hop's Damon Dash makes the Judgement Yard sojourn ] and I thought hmm..let me read this effery.

So basically Dame is visiting Jamaica for the first time. Hmm...didnt he sign ( or gave him a distribution deal) Sizzla a couple yrs ago? this is really his first time in J.A? wow! talk about being interested..

He went on to explain about his trip..
"The wind blew me here, I pride myself on being an innovator and I want to come here first... before everybody else catches on and realises that Jamaica is the place to be,"
Oh and he met Usain Bolt's father, and ate yam! oh em gee, yam, something that doesnt exist in the states *roll eyes*
"I visited Bolt's father and it was such a great experience. Actually, the deeper you go into Jamaica, the safer you feel and this is contrary to what you hear"
The Yam-
"I'm not sure if it was the first time I was eating yellow yam, but it was the first time that I was actually aware of what I was eating,"
LOL, folks crack me up, to read the full article click here
But before that, reminisce with me for a minute will ya? peep this vid..

DAMAGE CONTROL: John Mayer's apology

Ok so this morning John Mayer had the internet/ blogging world in a frenzy after a few comments from his Playboy mag interview started circulating. If you missed it, lemme get you up to speed. Here's part of the interview:

PLAYBOY: If you didn’t know you, would you think you’re a douche bag?

MAYER: It depends on what I picked up. My two biggest hits are “Your Body Is a Wonderland” and “Daughters.” If you think those songs are pandering, then you’ll think I’m a douche bag. It’s like I come on very strong. I am a very…I’m just very. V-E-R-Y. And if you can’t handle very, then I’m a douche bag. But I think the world needs a little very. That’s why black people love me.

PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?
MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’”

PLAYBOY: It is true; a lot of rappers love you. You recorded with Common and Kanye West, played live with Jay-Z.

MAYER: What is being black? It’s making the most of your life, not taking a single moment for granted. Taking something that’s seen as a struggle and making it work for you, or you’ll die inside. Not to say that my struggle is like the collective struggle of black America. But maybe my struggle is similar to one black dude’s.

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?

MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fuckin’ David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick.

PLAYBOY: Let’s put some names out there. Let’s get specific.
MAYER: I always thought Holly Robinson Peete was gorgeous. Every white dude loved Hilary from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And Kerry Washington. She’s superhot, and she’s also white-girl crazy. Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl. Just all of a sudden she’d be like, “Yeah, I sucked his dick. Whatever.” And you’d be like, “What? We weren’t talking about that.” That’s what “Heartbreak Warfare” is all about, when a girl uses jealousy as a tactic.

ooooookay! Shocked? upset? no longer like Johnny boy?
hmm...
1st off, John Mayer has a dry sense of humor and is very honest ( if you were a listener of his music, you'd know this #justsaying )
I saw that alot of folks had shit to say about this and i'm like hmmm...y'all are making it too easy! I mean just because someone doesnt like you, does not make them racist.
And let's not forget he did say he was gonna "going to start dating separately from my dick" so maybe there's hope for all you who are pissed at the moment lol.

Then you bustas have the nerve to be upset that he used the N word when y'all slay that word on a DAILY basis, are you serious? is it ok for YOU to say nigger/nigga because you're "black" really? If that's how you think then may the good lord be with you..

Anyways...here's the apology John summed up:

Re: using the 'N word' in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it's such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there's no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged. And while I'm using today for looking at myself under harsh light, I think it's time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews... It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it's gotten out of hand and I've created somewhat of a monster. I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don't have the stomach for it. Again, because I don't want anyone to think I'm equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again. I just wanted to play the guitar for people. Everything else just sort of popped up and I improvised, and kept doubling down on it...

VP Exec says Grammy Reggae category "never reflects what’s going on"

“For 25 years it seems the same people get nominated and win the award. It never reflects what’s going on. Everybody’s been grumbling about it for years. About four years ago I started to investigate it and found out we don’t have a lot of people in our genre that are actually voting. For the lack of a better analogy, [the typical voter] is a white guy from Minnesota and he’s looking at the list [of eligible albums] going, ‘Oh Mavado, Busy Signal, Beres Hammond, Etana, ooh Black Uhuru, I loved ‘em in ‘72.’ Click. He’s just going with people he knows. He doesn’t have a clue who Busy Signal or Mavado is.”

"One to the next one" director & Jay-Z sets the record straight

Remember last week when I broke down the images in the 'On to the next one' video? well I guess the director of the video been hearing the talks about what others thought about the video, similar to the mini break down I posted. he sat down with Vibe Magazine recently to clear the air, here's what he had to say:

Vibe: There’s been a lot of talk about Jay’s video containing Freemason imagery such as the horned animal head, an eagle and skull. What are your thoughts about such talk and why do you think music fans are so quick to believe a conspiracy narrative?

Sam Brown: I’m aware of the stir the video has caused and what people are saying. I think when you’re dealing in abstract imagery people are going to want to draw lines between things and make sense of it. However, I’ve always felt that the viewing public was, in general, extremely visually literate. They don’t always want or need things to be spelt out for them. One of the great things about music videos are they can be enjoyed purely visually—it doesn’t need to mean anything or make any sense. Conspiracy theory is another thing entirely, and seems to me to be about projecting pre-existing beliefs and desperately looking for things that confirm them. There is imagery in this video that is drawn from all over the place. None of it is owned by any one culture or belief system. You can connect anything if you try hard enough, and make it mean anything you want it to.

Vibe: Did Jay come up with the avant-garde treatment for the video? If so, do you think he (or yourself) was aware of the talk that some of the imagery would ignite?

Sam Brown: [To] tell the truth, I wouldn’t speak for Jay. I know he really liked the video. He strikes me as a very intelligent and forward-thinking person and I have huge respect for him and his label for wanting to bring something different. As the man says, he uses his cojones.

you can read more of that interview over at Vibe

Meanwhile, back on the ranch, Jay, Trey Songz & Jeezy stopped by HOT97 to kick it with Angie Martinez yesterday to speak on their tour (which by the way they will be performing March 2nd at MSG, which is also 8 days before my b'day *hint hint* ).

He also took the time out to tweet using Angie's account, peep Great Hova doing his thing.

Angie then asked him about the illuminati rumors, etc..listen here

Breaking down Jay-Z's 'On to the next one' video

When I first saw the video, i'm like "hmm...this is different". I couldnt for the life of me connect the dots with the message of "on to the next one" and this video. I watched it give and take maybe 5 times to figure it out, because a chick was lost, ya feel me? then I see baphomets, cracked skulls, ball of fire, dude face painted, oh and lets not forget the cross with the 2 bullets, chick with the swords, etc... hmmm...what was running through Jay & director Sam Brown's mind?
well, well, well, I went perusing through Miss Info's blog as I do on a regular basis, and I found this lil break down.

I'm not accusing Jay-Z of being anything BUT this play-by-play break down will make you go hmmm..
Anyways, here is what reader "actualspace" came up with.

0:16 hammer & blood = 1. hammer is a symbol in freemasonry, 2. hammer is slang for a gun “shoot to kill” 3. hammer used to nail christ to the cross, blood of jesus

0:23 ink blot of baphomet(google it)

0:36 ink blot of jesus face on shroud of turin

0:51 basket ball on fire i.e. “playing with fire”

0:57 Wooden Horse = trojan horse, using a gift/presentation to the public as deception even tho it’s mean to destroy. Look at movie “Troy” w/ brad pitt

1:18 halo aroud head, calling himself angel/jesus/god?? idk

1:40 shot at 50 cent, diamond skull from blood in sand video game and forever king mixtape, pouring blood on it = death threat

2:01 dice on fire, 2 sides with flames = 3 & 6 = triple six = 666 = satanic number

2:12 skull of baphomet, also looks demonic/satan & right before that he says “world cant hold me, too much ambition” then cut to demon skull

3:39 jesus cross inbetween 2 bullets, do you need an explanation for this one? also says “You should be afraid of what Im going to do next” right after

3:51 more baphomet skull, if you look closely looks like a man wearing a hoodie with the skull as his face
He went on to say:
Remember Jay-z is extremely intelligent, he is known for using entendres(double/triple meanings) in his music. Any fan of Jay-z would know that. <= true dat

Hmm...so how about we watch the video again just to recap and see if we see the things he's talking bout?

Ok, just in case you missed it, here are a few pics from the video.

In the words of author Dan Brown "Masons are not a secret society...they are a society with secrets. Masonry is a system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols" hmm..
*weezy voice* my go: I agree with 'ActualSpace' Jay is known for double entendres in his music, so could it be that he's using them in his video as well? One can say he heard about the youtube videos calling him a decipticon and he's keeping up with the blogtalks so he decided to toy with their brain (he's known for that..hmmhmm), OR you could also say that he is what he is ( A Mason ) and he's not only toying with your brain but he's putting it out there for folks to say he is, OR he isn't but he's toying with your brain. (damn i lost count..is that a triple or duadruple entendre?) either way, 1 thing's for sure..Jay sure know how to make people think (and talk).
