Born and bred Brooklynite, entrepreneur in the making, Yamiris Chambers aka Yami granted me an interview today, peep below..:
Me: How would you describe yourself?
Yami: IM AN EXTRATERRESTRIAL ,DOWN TO EARTH,KEKEKE! OUTSPOKEN, FUN TO BE AROUND, FUNNY ASS PERPETUALLY EVOLVING INDIVIDUAL.
Me: Growing up what did you want to be? and why?
Yami: WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I WANTED TO BE AN EGYPTOLOGIST. I WAS AND STILL AM, OBSESSED WITH ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CULTURE.
Me: Who is your role model and why?
Yami: MY ROLE MODEL IS MY AUNT VIVIENE, BECAUSE SHE'S ALL ABOUT LIVING LIFE THE RIGHT WAY AND BEING HONEST. SHE'S TAUGHT ME TO SPEAK MY MIND, TO FEAR NOTHING, AND BE CONFIDENT. BECAUSE OF HER, I AM THE "MONSTER" U HAVE BEFORE U NOW..KEKEKEKE! BUT I LOVE HER FOR NOT ALLOWING ME TO BECOME A WIMP IN LIFE.
Me: I read in a recent interview that you taught yourself how to dance and that you started out dancing to reggae music, where did the influence come from?
Yami: WELL THE INFLUENCE CAME FROM ME GROWING UP IN BROOKLYN, NY, WHICH IS FULL OF WEST INDIAN CULTURE. WHEN I GOT TO HIGH SCHOOL KNOWING EVERY DANCEHALL DANCE AND REGGAE RIDDIM WAS VITAL. WE WOULD HAVE BATTLES IN THE BASEMENT. KEKEKE! IT WOULD BE FLEX-N-BROOKLYN EVERYDAY AT SCHOOL
Me: We've seen you in Jay-Z's video '', did give you any food for thought about this business or life in general? if yes what was it?
Yami: JAYZ IS A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE MAN, AND ON THE SHOOT HE TOLD ME TO "GET BETTER AT ALL THE THINGS I WAS ALREADY GOOD AT, SO I COULD BE THE MASTER OF ALL MY CRAFTS". AS FOR LIFE HE SAID "DON'T GET FUCKED"
*screen shots of Yami in 'Blue Magic' video*
Me: What is your favorite genre of music to listen to?
Yami: IM LIKE IN LOVE WITH HIP HOP AND R&B FROM THE LATE 80'S AND EARLY &LATE 90'S MUSIC, ALONG WITH REGGAE, NEO-SOUL,AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT I LOVE TECHNO & HOUSE MUSIC! KEKEKE! DON'T JUDGE ME. HAHAHA!
Me: Who's album or song do you have in right now?
Yami: MOST DEF "THE BLUEPRINT 3" BY JAYZ. SHYT GO SO FUCKIN HARD. DAMMIT MAN! AND TREY SONGZ "READY".
Me: You're a very outspoken young lady, I like that about you, but tell me, has that ever gotten you into some major trouble? if yes, what was it? lol
Yami: Umm, YES AND NO. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN IN MAJOR TROUBLE FOR BEING OUTSPOKEN. BUT I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN MINOR ISSUES THANKS TO MEDIATAKEOUT AND OTHER WEBSITES LIKE THAT. BUT IT DIDN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING TO ME AS FAR AS GETTING IN TROUBLE.
Me: How has your outspoken nature work for you in your everyday life and in the industry?
Yami: SHEESH! BEING OUTSPOKEN IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE AND THE IN THE INDUSTRY HAS GOTTEN ME THUS FAR, WHERE PPL WANT TO INTERVIEW ME, AND IM A NOBODY! BUT APPARENTLY IM A SOMEBODY TO A LOT OF PPL. BEING OUTSPOKEN SHOWS CONFIDENCE. AND U HAVE TO BE CONFIDENT IN THE INDUSTRY AND EVERYDAY LIFE, TO GET WHERE U WANNA BE. SO ITS HELPED ME A WHOLE LOT. I'VE MET GREAT PPL
Me: At one point you were Teyana's assistant, what did you learn from that experience?
Yami: Hmmm, I LEARNED HOW TO BECOME MORE ORGANIZED. I ALSO LEARNED HOW SEPARATE THE REAL FROM THE FAKE IN THE INDUSTRY AND LIFE ITSELF.
Me: Any artist you would like to work with? and why...
Yami: I'VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING T-PAIN IN THE PAST, AND ID LOVE TO WORK WITH HIM ON SOME TV SHYT. HE FLIPPIN HILARIOUS. HE'S A CHARACTER.

Me: Is there anything special or in particular you like to do in your personal time?
Yami: I LOVE TO EAT, AND LISTEN TO MY . SOMETIMES I WRITE POETRY.
Me: The Yankees are doing big things right now, being a , are you a sports fan? what are your favorite sports to watch/ play?
Yami: I LIKE TO WATCH BASKETBALL BUT I CAN'T PLAY IT. I LIKE FOOTBALL. AND DO PLAY THAT WITH THE HOMIES IN THE PARK.
Me: In life, money & friends seem to not mix, so far have you experienced that? and how would you deal with that if it ever happens?
Yami: SHEESH! GOOD QUESTION. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THAT TO A CERTAIN EXTENT. WHAT PPL TEND TO GET WRONG, IS THAT THEY BELIEVE MONEY VALIDATES WHO THEY ARE. AND WITH OR WITHOUT MONEY U'LL STILL BE THE SAME PERSON ON THE INSIDE. MONEY CAN ONLY CHANGE UR APPEARANCE. AND I'VE DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE BY BEING THE SAME PERSON I WAS WHEN THEY MET ME. CUZ #ATTHEENDOFTHEDAY IM REAL. FUCK THE OTHER SHYT.
Me: To the person reading this, any words of encouragement for them if they would like to get into the entertainment business? or for life in general?...
Yami: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, BECUZ U ONLY HAVE YOURSELF IN THIS WORLD. AND LOVE WHO U ARE. FUCK WAT OTHER PPL WANT U TO DO OR BE. DO AND BE WHAT'S GONNA MAKE U HAPPY IN LIFE, BECUZ #ATTHEENDOFTHEDAY YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH CHOICES YOU MAKE.
